Painting
My painting explores picturesque and decorative themes drawn from classical sources and the baroque, focusing on nature as a metaphor for artistic transformation.
As in nature, the figurative and abstract aspects of form seem to coalesce in antique decorative works, shaped by a material sensibility that inspires my own approach to painting.
I am interested in both lyricism and abstraction in my work. My subjects include landscapes, still life, ornament, and allegory. I enjoy experimenting with oils, varnishes, and balsams, along with traditional techniques, to craft suggestive compositions and achieve rich surfaces.
My artwork embraces the idyllic spirit of the scenic and pastoral in decorative art, conjuring the poetry of an Arcadian world and transforming its sensual beauty into abstract possibilities.
